Generating Alt Text

Wicked Alt Text AI offers several ways to generate alt text for your images.

Automatically When New Images are Uploaded

Perhaps the most convenient way to generate alt text for your images is to have Wicked Alt Text AI generate alt text automatically anytime you upload new images.  This option is disabled by default to prevent inadvertent use of your OpenAI credits but can be enabled by visiting Wicked Alt Text AI > Settings page in your site’s admin area.

Bulk Generate Alt Text for Images Without Alt Text

To generate alt text in bulk for all images on your website that don’t already have alt text, visit the Wicked Alt Text AI page in your WordPress admin and use the Generate Alternative Text tool.

Bulk Generate Alt Text for Specific Images

Visit the Media page and switch to list view by clicking the list icon in the toolbar near the top of the screen.  Check the box next to the images you want to generate alt text for, then choose “Generate alternative text” from the Bulk Actions dropdown found at the top and bottom of the list.  Click Apply to run the action.

Warning: this will overwrite any existing alt text for the selected images.

Generate Alt Text for Individual Images

Visit the Media page in the WordPress admin area.  If you’re viewing the media library in grid view, click on an image and then click the “Generate Alternative Text” button.  If you’re viewing the media library in list view, hover over an image and then click the “Generate alternative text” link.

Warning: this will overwrite any existing alt text for the image.
