No Alt Text is Generated

Note: alt text generation for SVG images currently isn’t supported. I hope to add support for SVG images in the future.

If alt text isn’t being generated, the first thing to check is that you’ve entered your license key on the Wicked Alt Text AI > Settings page and you’ve configured an AI connector on the Settings > Connectors page.  The plugin will not function without both of these.

Occasionally the AI will fail to generate alt text for an image.  If this happens, you can try generating alt text for the image again and it will normally work.  If you continue to have problems, please try enabling debugging (see below) or send us the URL to the image and we will be happy to investigate on our end.

Debugging

Wicked Alt Text AI will log messages to your debug file when you enable debugging in WordPress.  Define the below constants in your wp-config.php file and ensure you’ve created a debug.log file at /wp-content/debug.log.

After you’re enabled debugging, try generating alt text again and then view the debug.log file for messages prefixed with Wicked Alt Text AI that may help identify the issue.
